Jasmine Lok is a licensed Nia Second Degree Black Belt. Her passion is to move, dance through life and lift up community. Jasmine opened Mayama with her business partner, Ali, in October of 2009. It has been an adventure of trust, hard work, and following her dreams. Every day she is thankful for the life she has created. Jasmine was always active and grew up dancing ballet, playing tennis, and skiing. Later in life she added yoga, martial arts, and hiking but teaching movement of any sort was never a goal of hers until she found Nia in 2007. Nia has changed her life and still changes it daily. Jasmine's classes are energetic, spirited and welcoming and are designed for all levels.

In addition to her 7 earned Nia Belts, Jasmine has also undergone the following trainings: Embodied Social Justice, Creative Movement for Kids, Nia MoveIT, Nia FreeDance, Nia Moving to Heal, Inner Personal Power Yoga, Taiji Fit, and Ageless Grace. photo Kim Rand

Kim Rand lives the epitome of a Rocky Mountain lifestyle, calling Colorado her home since 1990. As a Boston native with a love for the outdoors, Kim Rand answered the call of the west, trusting and seeking solace in the freedom of wide open spaces. Today she walks the walk maintaining an active lifestyle hiking with friends, river running, fly fishing and enjoying Bluegrass festivals. Despite this active lifestyle, like so many of us, everyday stresses and physical pains began to emerge in her lower back. In response, Kim pursued a personal yoga practice and witnessed a welcome transformation in body strength and alignment. More importantly, Kim discovered an unexpected quieting of the mind and a strong desire to teach.

In 2009, Kim’s passion brought her to Maui to study “Maya Yoga”, a fusion of Ashtanga & Iyengar, with inspirational teachers Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini. She completed a yearlong study with RR Shakti, founder of “Inner Power Yoga”, in 2013. Her emphasis is on awareness, breath, alignment and the integrity of the asana allowing the space needed to move energy and create positive change in the body and mind. She feels that the foundation of the pose is essential to a healthy and sustainable yoga practice and it’s through a safe and mindful practice that a student is able to heal their body and quiet their mind. Kim brings the ancient teachings of yoga philosophy into the classroom cultivating ones connection to self and the wisdom within. She believes that the practice of yoga cultivates the awareness within to find and explore the connection between body and mind giving everyone the ability to heal oneself physically, mentally and emotionally. She encourages her students to take yoga off the matt and into their daily lives promoting healthy relationships in every aspect of life.

“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul, create the symphony of life” B.K.S. Iyengar

photo Maya Parr

Maya was born and raised in Boulder Colorado. With the backdrop of the mountains as her home growing up, she has a deep love for time spent under an open sky. She gains so much inspiration from the natural world and loves spending time outside in pretty much any context. Aside from nature, her passions include connecting with people, laughing, sharing stories, food, time, music and friendship... as well as time spent moving my body. The practice of yoga has been a huge part of her life since I was 18 years old, when she traveled to Nepal and began studying the philosophy of yoga. Since then, yoga has been a part of her life as a daily practice, physical health, and overall mental clarity and wellness. She has so much direct experience with the benefits of this practice, and looks forward to sharing them with you!

Maya's teaching style is a blend of strength, balance, and breath that will allow you to tap into your energetic body. By focusing on slower paced flows that allow you to marry breath to movement, as well as to feel the essence of each posture, her goal is to help you get in touch with the strength, and softness, of your inner being. Feeling into the paradox of both the power and the softness that we all exist between, is one of the things that makes this practice so amazing. Classes will explore the full capacity of our yogic expressions to align with breath and to help you feel the full power of your being. Her background in Hatha and Ashtanga sequences will inform the postures we practice in, with a dynamic flow at the beginning of class to warm up the body. There will always be time to rest beautifully, with emphasis on beginning and ending each class with an intentional check in of your body, and an honoring of that inner Knowing. There will be play, and also discipline, included in each class, and most importantly, an opportunity to get to know your own body and being more lovingly.

photo Lindsey (Bishop) Kluin

Lindsey is a Certified Mindfulness Guide and Mentor, trained by internationally renowned teachers, Tara Brach Ph.D. and Jack Kornfield Ph.D. Awakening people to their healed, whole nature through a mix of eastern and western approaches was Lindsey’s side-passion project for 15 years. Her full time job was wrangling projects, people and organizations in tech. She began running her private practice full time three years ago, and she’s never turned back.

Prior to meeting Tara and Jack, her primary teachers were he challenges of being human, her friends and family, the natural world and comedians like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Pete Holmes - as a Tibetan Lama once said, “I get people to laugh, and when their mouths are open, I pop the pill of wisdom in.” Yes. That. She has always been fascinated by how people’s bodies, brains and psyches work together and is an avid learner in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, meditation and intuitive energy work.

Lindsey grew up in New Jersey where she preferred daydreaming in nature and laughing with her sisters over everything else. She graduated as Valedictorian of the School of Education at Syracuse University and completed a funded Master’s degree there the following year. She raced mountain bikes at the professional level for a handful of years after college, which thankfully brought her out to Colorado. While she has no desire to race these days, time on trails -in any form- is forever sacred. In her free time, you will find her with her beloved husband and children, playing, relaxing, reading and writing in the mountains, lakes and rivers of Colorado.
